Frequently asked questions

From how to upload photos to your fund to uploading your offline donations and telling your friends and family about your fund, we have the answers.

If you have a question that isn't covered here please contact us at or call 0300 1000 200.

  • How do I set up a tribute fund for my loved one?

It's very easy to create a Macmillan tribute fund. Registering only takes a couple of minutes, and you'll need a valid email address and UK address to get started. Once you are logged in, you can enter the name of the person you're celebrating, add photographs and videos, and write anything you'd like. You can also create a family and friends list if you'd like to notify others that you've set up the fund, and share the fund on Facebook.

  • I haven't received my confirmation email

Sometimes the email goes directly to the junk folder so it's best to check in there first. If the email isn’t in this folder, please call our fundraising team on 0300 1000 200 or email with your query.

  • How can I share the fund with friends and family?

When you're creating a tribute fund you can add the email addresses of friends and family that you'd like notified and they will receive an email about the page.

You can also share your tribute fund on Facebook or Twitter by clicking on the social media buttons within the site, so as many people know about it as possible.

  • Where can I get collection envelopes for a funeral?

You can order collection envelopes directly from Head to 'order information', 'resources for supporters', 'envelopes'.

Or call 0300 1000 200 if you would rather order them over the phone.

  • What can I do once my fund is set up?

As the person who has set up the fund, once you're logged in, you will be able to:

    • Write diary entries
    • Upload photographs and videos (you can upload up to 24)
    • Make donations and set up regular gifts through Direct Debits
    • Manage Visitors' Book entries
    • Set up an event page in memory of your loved one
    • Light a lantern to celebrate your loved one

You and anyone who visits your page will be able to:

    • Write in the Visitors' Book
    • Make donations and set up regular gifts through Direct Debits
    • Light lanterns in memory of your loved one
    • Set up event funds that support your tribute fund, for any event and/or occasion. So, if someone in your family is getting married or one of your friends is running a marathon, or hosting a coffee morning, they can set up their own event fund and all the money that they raise through their event will be credited into the tribute fund you have set up.
  • Can I add offline donations and collections to my fund?

Yes. Please email or call 0300 1000 200 with the amount of your offline donation or collection, and the message you would like to appear with it and we will add it onto the fund for you. This can be useful in keeping track of all of your fundraising efforts.

  • Can I fundraise for an event on my tribute fund?

Once your fund has been set up, you'll be able to create individual events pages by clicking on the 'Take part in an event for this tribute fund' button.  This could be doing a run for Macmillan, taking part in The World's Biggest Coffee Morning or collecting donations in lieu of wedding gifts. Whatever it is, all of the money raised from the event will go towards the main tribute fund (and each new event can have its own page).

It's a great way for friends and family to support your tribute fund by setting up their own event pages linked to your fund and having a lot of fun along the way. You can set up as many events pages as you like, and all of them will be raising money towards your main fund. This also helps us give you the right support for your fundraising.

  • My fund isn't showing in results when I search for it

When setting up your fund you haven't ticked the ‘Searchable’ box for your fund so it won’t be visible to any other visitors. All you need to do is tick this box found within your account settings after logging in to the tribute funds site.

  • How will a Macmillan tribute fund help others?

By setting up a Macmillan tribute fund you are helping to make sure no one faces cancer alone.  Today 889 people will be hit with the news that they have cancer, but up to a quarter of people face cancer without support from family or friends. No one should face cancer alone. And with your support no one will.

Now, more than ever, we need people like you to join our team and get involved. By seeting up a tribute fund you can make a huge difference for people affected by cancer.

We simply couldn't do what we do without you.

  • Can I change the page later?

It's easy to update your page. Just log in and you can use the admin area to change:

    • The main message
    • Journal entries
    • Photographs and videos
    • Your password or email address
    • You can also email more friends and family at any time.
  • What about security?

Your tribute page is extremely safe. You will be using a secure connection to create your fund and a password-protected account will be set up for you to make any changes.

  • Why aren't all my direct debit payments showing on my tribute fund?

Other than the first payment, direct debits do not show on tribute funds. All direct debit contributions will be on your Macmillan customer record, so should you wish to change or query anything please contact us on 0300 1000 200 (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm), or email
