  • How would you describe them?

"Dolly - A wonderful kind person who took pride in clothes & loved her home and family. Always one to 'hide' a tin of Quality Street as a 'surprise'."

    From Janice Page

  • What did they love most?

"Dolly adored her family and took much pride in hearing the achievements of her Children, Grandchildren and Great-Grandsons."

Dolly lived 91 wonderful years - So many memories which she loved to share. From being evacuated during the war at such a young age to her wonderful experiences of travel with her beloved Andy.

Dolly spent many an hour playing cards with Andy and later would teach every one of her Grandchildren the art of Crib! Often allowing them to win although this they would never realise!

The last couple of years were especially tough for Dolly but she continued to enjoy life as best she could. To her end her clothes were very important to her. All clothes should match and hair has to be set once a week. Just two days before her passing she had manicures and a wash and set! No sitting around in dressing gowns for her - Once up, you get up! Such pride in herself as well as her home and her family.

We have such wonderful memories of taking Dolly on her holiday to Mallorca last June. Even while there she suffered a fall. She found this amusing as she was able to experience the inside of a Mallorcan ambulance and hospital. This was her sense of humour! She would see the bright side of anything and would enjoy that humour.

Her determination to enjoy life and her family gave her the encouragement to see through the difficult times since losing Andy 21 years ago. Not a day went by without some reference to him. He was always in her thoughts and close to her heart. They are together again now along with Dolly's five lovely sisters. What a noisy place Heaven must be and how quiet does it now seem here!

We have chosen Macmillan's as a most worthy cause to have Dolly's tribute page. Cancer touches every family and Macmillan are there to help and support through very difficult times. Dolly looked forward to the annual coffee mornings not only to support the cause but to also have the excuse to eat cake! She would be delighted this page has been set up in her name. God bless to a wonderful Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother.

Please share any memories or thoughts if you wish. Thank you for your support.

With our love

Janice, Colin, Peter and Paul
