Potter runs the London Marathon 2011 Fund

Lou Stewart AKA Potter, runs the London Marathon in 4 hours 27 minutes in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

From Potter:

No one was more surprised than I was to receive my 2011 London Marathon acceptance letter in the post at the end of last year. I had entered the ballot thinking I didn't have a chance in a month of Sundays of getting a place so I couldn't believe it when I actually did. Excitement soon gave way to fear when I started researching the training it actually took to run a marathon. Reality set in; this was definitely not going to be easy. Eeek!

I bit the bullet and started training. My social life disappeared pretty quickly as I tried to fit in my runs around rugby, work and life. I was running before, during and after work and eating more carbs than I have consumed in my life before. Ice baths are not fun.

So after 13 weeks of running intervals, sprints, 5kms, 10kms, 20kms and 30kms in my training, I am now down to the last 3 weeks before D Day. Now I begin my taper, dropping my distances each week to get my legs ready for 42km on April 17th.

Will keep you posted on how I get on!
